The first Health South Rehabilitation Hospital in the state is open for patients in Gulfport.

The Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce, city officials, and Health South Management officially cut the ribbon for the business this morning. The rehab center is on the second floor of Memorial Hospital in Gulfport. Health South Rehab mainly focuses on physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy.

Health South Rehab CEO Amber Hester tells News 25 the rehab hospital’s goal is to make sure all patients have the highest quality care in their return to good health. “It’s a little bit different than a skilled nursing facility where you’re going to get that intensive therapy. The average length of stay here is about 12 days also. So, you’re not really looking at a long length of stay that you have to be away from your home, which is really exciting for our families to hear because they want to get back home and they want to get back to their communities.”

Health South Rehab Hospital out of Gulfport has specialized inpatient programs ranging from brain injuries to his fractures.
